Final eNews for Term 3. Have a great 2 week break!

30.09.22    Week 10  Term 3

Kia Ora from Mrs Cook.

What a busy, but absolutely wonderful, 10 weeks we have had. We were looking forward to having a full school assembly today, however, with a lot of illness and absence, we decided not to hold this event. The Health and safety of our learners and community continue to remain a high priority.

Please see the assembly Slideshow presentation here:

We hope you have a wonderful break and look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday 17th October :).

A reminder that sunhats are required for Term 4 and sandals are encouraged. Please bring your sunhat on Day 1.

Learners not returning in 2023

If you know your child(ren) will not be returning in 2023 could you please send Mrs Keys an email (admin@alfriston.school.nz). We are looking to determine the number of Out of Zone places we can offer, therefore this information is important at this time. Many thanks.

Learning Celebrations

Tupu Tahi

The topic has been around ocean pollution and keeping our waterways happy and healthy for all to enjoy. Water Care came in and shared with each of the Tupu Tahi classes about how the waterways work and what it means for us as consumers of water.

Kotahitanga

Moana Production. A massive effort from so many people to create our wonderful showcase event for the term. From our backstage crew who made sure props were ready and in place, our super and amazingly talented parents who made costumes and set pros, to the staff who gave up their lunch breaks and own whanau time to do a variety of jobs – we thank you all! The awesome cast- from Shiny dancers and Ocean divas, Warriors, Tamatoa (and Lamepa as Te Ka) and our super brave and awesome leads – this was certainly an event to remember.

Other News & Reminders

LATENESS…
As previously indicated it is vital learners are onsite and ready to start the day by 8.45 am. The first 15 minutes of the school day set learners up for success. We are currently tracking lateness and will be contacting the whānau we are concerned about.

EARLY TO SCHOOL
We have also noticed a growing number of children arriving at school very early, please do not send your child/children to school before 8 am.  It is a long time for them to stand on cold/wet days.  We ask that you make alternative arrangements for your child on those days you need to start early.  This is a health & safety concern for us as we do not have a before-school care facility and teachers/staff are unable to supervise children as they are busy preparing for their school day.
If your child has been sick?
If your child is sick with vomiting they are required to remain at home and away from school for at least 24 hours.

Change of Details

It is important that we hold the correct details for our learners on file, especially if we have to contact you in an emergency. Have you recently changed your address, email or phone number? Please can you let the office know so we have up-to-date accurate records.
