Learning Celebrations

ROOM 10

Within Literacy this term, Room 10 has been learning about advertising techniques and tricks that companies use to entice us to buy their products. Using this knowledge, Room 10 learners then came up with a visual and video advertisement, selling a product that athletes could use to enhance their training and performance. As you listen to our advertisements you will hear the use of rhetorical questions, puns, allusions, logos, pathos and ethos.

ROOM 2

Sports News

Yesterday the Counties Girls Hockey tournament was held in Pukekohe. Mrs Pearcey, our superstar hockey coach, attended with 5 of our learners and some from other schools. The girls played really well and placed 4th in the competition.

It is great to see our girls representing in many different sports – well done girls!

Community Call out…Can you help?

We have a range of reasons that require us to temporarily loan uniform items some of our learners. However, over time the stock at the office has deminished.  If you have any uniform items at home that you no longer require we would love for you to condsider donating it to us so we can help others out.

What we need…

  • We are in most need of small size 4 and size 6 shorts and shirts
  • In addition we are low on shorts and skirts in all the other sizes too

If you can help, pleae drop your donation to the office.

WE THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Nanogirl – Science Show

On Thursday 29th August, Alfriston school will be hosting a scientist from Nanogirl Labs to present a STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) focused science show. Below is a short message from Nangirl labs.

Experiencing a Science presentation by a Scientist can inspire the next generation of STEM professionals and at Nanogirl Labs we would like everyone to have this opportunity. We will be presenting our Superhero Science topic. Our Superhero Science Assembly show gets noisy—and explosive—as we explore the science behind superpowers and help your students to engineer superpowers of their own.

The cost of this presentation is $5 per learner for this wonderful show please pay via your Kindo account.
