A huge congratulations to Charise Ritchie who has received her full registration as a teacher! This is a remarkable milestone and a testament to her dedication, hard work, and passion for education.
As she embarks on the next phase of her teaching journey, we have no doubt that she will continue to inspire, motivate, and make a lasting difference. Celebrate this moment—you’ve earned it!
Congrats! Charise.

We have been advised the main works will start on 7th of January 2025 with a full road closure as informed previously, starting with the roundabout end. They are looking to also do nightworks so that we can reduce the timeframe of the project.
The latest information is below.

Summer Pool Season Notice
|
The Alfriston School Board has decided that we will not sell pool passes this season (2024/2025). Both pools need repair work, and the number of people committed to buying a pool pass did not make opening over the summer financially viable. The Board will discuss future seasons at the end of 2025.

A huge thank you to our wonderful community! You all came out to celebrate our year of learning and made our evening a BIG success! The learners were so proud to share their item and it was so nice seeing everyone have fun together. The staff also enjoyed showing off their groovy dance moves…hahaha! Again thank you for being so willing to be involved, it truly makes a difference to all our learners and sends a positive message about how important school is and that it can be fun too!
Below is a lovely email received from the Lions Club who cooked our chips:
To the Board of Trustees of Alfriston School.
On Tuesday evening 10th December 2024 I had the pleasure and privilege of attending your event to sell hot chips. On this evening, I wore two hats: one as the Vice-President of The Lions Club of Howick and second as your Senior Education Advisor in the MOE. I was overwhelmed by the mana, politeness and wonderful manners displayed by EVERY student who purchased chips from us. Not only were we approached with smiles and patience due to the long queue, but EVERY student remembered their “Please” and “Thank you” and many wished us a good day. The Lions Club of Howick have been conducting chip cooking to support local schools to raise much needed school funds for many years – it is one of our “trademark” activities – and the welcome, support and manners we experienced on Tuesday were simply “gold standard”.
Nga mihi nui to Carla and Claire for all the support on the evening – The Lions Club of Howick is always willing to support you at future events. Your school is truly a happy school as indicated by one of our volunteers, Ted Curtis, the father of one of our members visiting from London. He is a Past District Governor for Lions in the Coventry area.
Much appreciated
ENJOY your break.
Shauna
Congratulations everyone – we wish you all a wonderful summer break, take care on the roads and around water and we look forward to seeing you all back in 2025!
