The 2023 school year is over and Christmas is one sleep away. On behalf of all the Alfriston School staff I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe holiday break. Thank you to the many people who acknowledged the staff’s efforts in the last few days of school, from Grandparents that attended prize giving to people expressing their thanks in passing, these words of gratitude are truly appreciated.

From the 5th to the 8th of December our Year 7 and 8 learners were lucky enough to head to Chosen Valley Christian Camp in Ararimu.
The learners participated in a wide variety of activities, some of these were Confidence Course, Kayaking, Raft Building, Archery and Go Karting. On the final day many were keen to stay on which lets up know they’d had a ball.
I want to say a big thank you to Mrs Melville who organised this camp. Mrs Melville had to alter the organisation many, many times (even the night before) and she did so efficiently and effectively. Her goal……to get the learners to camp! We appreciate all your time and effort Mrs Melville.
I also want to thank the staff and caregiver helpers who came to the rescue to ensure the camp went ahead. We had parents whose children weren’t at camp helping, parents who changed shifts to attend and staff who stepped away from school at this busy time of year to help out. It truly was a team effort!

Another end of year highlight was our community Time to Shine Picnic and Concert on Monday 11th December. The Mainfreight truck arrived, the stalls were set up and the fun began. Every learner had an opportunity to take the stage and perform – the confidence and enjoyment was fantastic to see.
A massive thank you to MAINFREIGHT who provided a truck for our stage for a second year. Mainfreight have been so supportive, we are very grateful.
