The last few weeks have seen many fun activities and lots of valuable learning. Highlights for me have been today’s Tupu Tahi Breakfast, the Powhiri and the large number of whānau that attended the Year 4-8 swimming event. These special events and extra opportunities add to making Alfriston School a wonderful place to be.
A big thank you to the staff that spent time organising the additional events. We know the time and effort that goes in, and it is truly appreciated.
A not so happy piece of news is that the lovely Mrs Sarah Lockett will be leaving us at the end of Term 1. Sarah and the Lockett whānau are moving to Christchurch to be with other family members. We thank Mrs Lockett for the high quality teaching programmes she’s provided and the high expectations she sets for all learners. Mrs Lockett you will be missed, but we know it’s the right thing for your whānau.
When someone leaves we need to find another superstar to join us. I am pleased to announce Mrs Pearcey will be coming back to be our classroom release teacher for Term 2. Mrs Pearcey was previously in our new entrant room and coached our Int hockey learners. Our learners will enjoy music and drama with Mrs Pearcey, and the staff look forward to having her in our team again.
